Bridging Underwriter Position at REIM Capital

We are recruiting for an experienced Underwriter to join a well-established team. Maybe you are looking for the next step in your career or to join a forward-thinking organisation. You will be responsible for assessing and underwriting complex bridging applications from brokers and intermediaries to minimise risk to the company whilst adhering to regulations and standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review Preliminary Offer Letters.

  • Send out a preliminary questionnaire to Borrower and ensure full and detailed replies are received at an early stage.

  • Ensure relevant external professionals are instructed/engaged in writing, appointments are made for their site visits and their fees are paid by the Borrower.

  • Ensure reports from lawyers, valuers and project monitors are received on time.

  • Follow up on any recommendations that are made by lawyers, valuers and project monitors and ensure that these are done promptly.

  • Prepare Preliminary Credit Paper – this is both an internal document that is used to make a preliminary analysis of the transaction, as well as an external document that is provided to investors. This document should amongst other things include a preliminary review of the following risk areas:

    • Commercial viability of any project and viability of exit (whether through sale or refinance)

    • Preliminary review of registered title of the property

    • Preliminary insolvency checks for directors and shareholders of the borrower company

    • Preliminary review of conditions attached to planning consent

  • Review, analyse and raise any further supplementary questions regarding reports received from lawyers, valuers, and project monitors.

  • Carry out internal desktop valuation study.

  • Carry out full due diligence and analysis on borrowers, transaction, development and exit strategy.

  • Review loan agreement, security documents and corporate ancillaries and suggest any amendments to lawyers.

  • Prepare Final Credit Paper incorporating all internal and external analysis carried out, highlighting risk areas and compliance with credit policy and notes to asset management.

  • Assist with investor reporting, provision of information and ensuring that investors are satisfied with the terms of the transaction delivering excellence.

  • Deal with any questions/queries from Principals and ensure credit committee approval of transaction.

  • Deal with completion of the loan transaction and handover to the asset management team.

Skills Required and Background

  • Bridging finance is essential.

  • A “Self-Starter” and entrepreneurial individual.

  • Relevant current employment or work experience.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal reasoning.

  • Strong written presentation skills.

  • Hard-working individual.

  • Excellent levels of numeracy.

  • Strong IT skills, including MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel in addition to various internal and external programs and CRM.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong time management skills.
